C3 Chamois Pad Features:

C3 is an endurance high performance chamois, ideal for long hours in the saddle. The C3 chamois is constructed by using an innovative process called Carving. This special technique allows the pad maximum shock protection, incredible lightness, breathability, and perfect fit because it adheres better to the body allowing freedom of movement. The Rooted Gel located in the ischium (sit bones) area allows for neutralization of vibration when the pad is under stress.

Santini's C3 Pad is the same pad the Trek Segafredo Pros have been using for 4 years, and will continue using in 2022. It is designed for your longest rides.

A new in house review from one of our employees:

The best bibshorts in your arsenal should be super comfortable, fit like a second skin, make you look like a pro and if they offer a little extra piece of mind towards a potential spill...so much the better.

Introducing Santini's Impact Pro Bibshort.

Santini bills its Impact Pro Bibshorts as "crash-ready performance bib shorts made with Sitip Impact anti-cut and anti-abrasion fabric..."

To be completely honest, I was not expecting these to be very impressive at all.  But I was very pleasantly surprised.

I thought that bibshorts made from a fabric that is cut and abrasion resistant would feel a bit stiff or inelastic.  Exactly that opposite of what you want from a pair of bibshorts, right?  But no, they are among the very best Santini bibs I have ever tried in terms of fit and overall feel.  I found them to hug every contour just as the lightest weight lycra would.

To prevent or reduce the impact of a fall, the Impact Pros have panels on the outside thigh/hip area made from Impact; a fabric made by Italian textile firm Sitip that is-as previously mentioned-highly resistant to cuts and abrasion.  The Impact fabric is reinforced with fibers made by DSM (you may recognize DSM from the Protour Team sponsored by them) called Dyneema; which is as their website states "DSM’s super-strong ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMwPE -Ultra High Mechanical Polyethylene) fiber branded as Dyneema® offers maximum strength with minimum weight. This makes the number of possible applications virtually unlimited."  Dyneema can be found in everything from Body Armor for law enforcement to sailing ropes to cut resistant gloves for food service.

After learning all about the composition of the Impact Pros, I still wasn't quite ready to head out and purposefully crash to see how well they prevented abrasion.  But I did see a review by someone who created a clever proxy test.

Having said that-I have crashed twice very recently on the road (wearing other bibshorts) and took impact in precisely the places where the Impact Pros are reinforced (once on each side).  Some areas were torn, and I got some road rash.  And I also got some road rash in areas where the shorts were not ripped.  Would my injuries have been less had I been wearing Santini's Impact Pros?  It's hard to say, it's difficult to measure what didn't happen.  I do know though that you can never have enough protection in the event of a crash and will always wish you had more.

The leg length suited me well.  Not too short, not too long.  The silicone leg grippers keep everything in place once and for all, no riding up or down.  And the prismatic Santini logo on the right leg added a nice bit of style.

Lastly, the Impact Pros come specced with Santini's top of the line C3 chamois.  The best chamois on the market when it comes to all day riding comfort, breathability and durability-bar none.
